What is PhotoRejuvenation?
Chameleon Medical Spa PhotoRejuvenation is the latest method of facial rejuvenation! Photo facials can improve your skin tone, skin elasticity and reduce pore size which helps prevent acne and scars. PhotoRejuvenation uses an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) laser treatment to reduce Rosacea, hyperpigmentation, sun spots and more, revealing a clear and even tone skin!
About the Procedure
Intense Pulse Light treatment penetrates the dermal layer of the skin to repair damage. Thus, creating new collagen to tighten and lift the skin correcting uneven skin texture and tone. Photofacials can improve your skin tone and skin elasticity with the reduction of pore size. Photo rejuvenation can also treat acne, and it is often sought after as an alternative treatment option because of its ability to clear up skin by 80% with just a few treatments!
Treatments usually last 20-40 minutes and require a series of treatments to reach optimal results. Most patients require a series of 1-3 treatments at 4-6 week intervals, some patients may require up to 5 treatments based on their skin condition. We will determine how many treatments will be needed to provide you with the best results during your initial consultation.
Photorejuvenation treatment possibilities:
Our PhotoRejuvenation treatment procedures (and sometimes our facial services) can help mend a variety of skin conditions. Some of these include:
Rosacea & Flushing
The most common of rosacea facial flushing or redness. The basic classifications of this condition are: mild, moderate and severe. As such, the person’s skin may appear to have a slight pinkish tint, which has the appearance of an overabundance of foundation blusher or slight sunburn. The skin may sting, tingle or itch.
Fine lines occur due to the irregular thickening of the dermis and a decrease in the amount of water held by the epidermis. This is mainly caused by sun damage and over exposure to environmental toxins, most specifically tobacco smoke.
Wrinkles and Folds
Wrinkles (rhytides) and folds often form because of the following factors, though the severity depends on the individual’s genetic tendency, skin phototype and exposure to environmental factors.
- Ageing processes
- Sun damage
- Muscle movement
- Other skin diseases with a tendency to scar
Hyperpigmentation is a common and mostly harmless condition where patches of skin become darker in color than the other, normal surrounding skin area. This condition occurs when an excess of melanin, which is the brown pigment that produces our normal skin color, forms deposits inside the skin.
Similar to Hyperpigmentation in both appearance and occurrence, sunspots are darker or lighter areas and usually occur in different shapes and colors. As the name indicates, they normally occur on areas of the skin that are regularly exposed to sun, most often on your nose, cheeks, upper lip, ears, forehead, neck, arms, back of your hands. They sometimes look like raised warts, scaly or rough skin lesion and can cause slight itching.
Broken Blood Vessels
This condition occurs when one or more blood vessel bursts resulting in a small amount of blood escaping from the vessel and into the affected area of the body. The resulting blood sometimes shows up just beneath the surface of the skin and is visible to the eye, creating an unpleasant look. Blood vessels burst for many different reasons, but it is mostly caused impact or injuries.
Spider veins are similar to broken blood vessels only they are smaller and consist of red, purple, and blue vessels that twist and turn in the affected area. They are also easily visible through the skin and typically occur on the legs and face.
There are a number of different factors that can cause spider veins. Some of these include:
- Occupations that involve a lot of standing
- Hormonal influences of pregnancy, puberty, and menopause
- Birth control pills
- Postmenopausal hormonal replacement
- Those with a history of blood clots
- Those who have conditions that causes an increase in pressure, such as tumors, constipation, and externally worn garments like girdles.
Capillaries typically appear around the chin, nose and cheeks. Like all facial conditions mentioned above, broken capillaries are caused from a variety of reasons, some which can be prevented from occurring. The most common cause of broken capillaries is due to damage to the skin from over sun exposure and excess dilation from a source of inflammation or irritation. In addition, forceful scrubbing of the skin can further aggravate sensitive areas, which will result in worsening the development of broken capillaries.
